There’s no better beach bag than our Luna cabuya purse. It combines natural fibers with vegetable leather, and it’s perfect for taking to the supermarket or to the beach. It has a very spacious compartment. It’s available in two very versatile colors. This bag is 100% biodegradable, made solely from natural materials!
These bags are made from the fiber of cabuya, a natural fiber that comes from mature penco plants. Its transformation process is long, starting with the harvest of the leaves and then passing through the defibrillator machine, before being washed and dried in the sun. Once the fiber is dry, we can give it color. All the cabuya we use in our bags has been dyed with natural dyes. Some of these include: chanchi (blue tone), jucuna (yellow tone), chilca (green tone), achiote (orange tone), and walnut (brown tone and also the main color fixer for other tones). But the process doesn't end there, the fiber has to be waxed and combed to convert it into thread and then start weaving the bags.
The cabuya purses are woven by a group of 30 artisans from the Intag area in Ecuador. All of them are homemakers, who, through weaving, can provide a steady income to their families and also have economic independence. They work from their homes, in their free time, hand-weaving each item from start to finish. They are at the heart of our brand and our reason for existence, as they allow us to preserve this art that is passed down from generation to generation..
